HOTUBA YA WAZIRI WA FEDHA, MHE. DKT. PHILIP ISDOR MPANGO (MB), WAZIRI WA FEDHA NA MIPANGO KATIKA UZINDUZI WA HUDUMA YA HALO YAKO MALENGO INAYOENDESHWA  KATI YA KAMPUNI  YA
HALOTEL NA FINCA TANZANIA

SERENA HOTEL DAR ES SALAAM,
 5 SEPTEMBA , 2017

Ndugu Le Van Dai, Mkurugenzi wa Halotel Tanzania,

Ndugu Issa Ngwegwe, Mkurugenzi wa FINCA Tanzania,

Menejimenti na Wafanyakazi wa Kampuni ya Halotel na FINCA,

Wawakilishi wa Vyombo vya Habari,

Wageni Waalikwa,

·         Endeleeni kuwa  wabunifu zaidi na kuboresha  huduma kwa wateja ili Kampuni iweze kupata faida kubwa zaidi na hivyo kulipa kodi kubwa kwa Serikali na kuchangia maendeleo ya Taifa;

Ladies and Gentlemen:
Allow me to share with you few messages in English for the benefit of some of us:Let me express my sincere gratitude for the honor accorded to the Minister for Finance and planning, Hon. Philip I. Mpango (MP) at this auspicious occasion of launching HALO YAKO Service by Halotel and Finca. I am really humbled and privileged to represent him, since he could not make it due to other pressing public service responsibilities, particularly at the time when Parliamentary Sessions start today. Kindly accept his apology. I trust I will be able to represent him well.
The role of the financial sector is to transfer funds from surplus units to deficit units, thereby promoting greater efficiency and economic growth by channeling funds from people who do not have productive use for them to those who do.
This includes among others, mobilizing savings from the population, guarding against uncertainty, assessing risks and providing credit.  Along these lines, the financial sector finds itself capable of linking economic agents in the manner that supports expansion of economic opportunities, creates jobs, and generates revenue for the Government
. This is what Halotel and Finca Tanzania are trying to achieve! On behalf of Hon. Minister, may I take this opportunity to congratulate them for joining forces to create a service such as this one which we are about to launch today; the service is geared towards assisting millions of Tanzanians, who may have no easy access to conventional banking facilities; indeed this is financial inclusion at work
!One of the biggest challenges we face today is the ability to mobilize savings and access to credit at affordable prices. However, there is enough evidence to show that technology can significantly help to reduce some of the barriers to access, such as remoteness and cost of providing financial services.
It is our sincere hope that, the product we are about to launch today will meet our expectations on what technology can facilitate to achieve! Finally, while efforts need to be sustained to further increase inclusion and access, there is a need to expand and sustain digital financial services ecosystem, including money transfer platforms, payment solutions, savings, financing, micro-insurance, financial planning and access to capital markets securities.
I trust that Halotel and Finca Tanzania, and indeed all stakeholders in the financial system will continue to be innovative in designing various products that can cater for long-term needs of customers at affordable prices. The Government recognizes the role of the private sector in Tanzania’s economic growth endeavours, and will therefore continue to support it.
